Woman with physical therapistAnxiety disorders are serious mental conditions which can affect your thoughts and behavior negatively. It’s crucial to deal with them effectively.

There are different types of anxiety disorder such as specific phobia, generalized anxiety disorder, adult separation anxiety disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder. Among the symptoms of the anxiety disorders are a feeling of fear, sleep problems, dry mouth, fast heart rate, nausea, and dizziness.

It’s very difficult to recover swiftly from mental conditions in the absence of a proper treatment and the same applies to the anxiety disorders. You have to take the help of a reliable healthcare professional to treat your condition. Though it’s true that medication and behavioral therapy are best ways to recover from mental conditions, physical therapy can also show great results.

There is no denying the fact that exercise can have a tremendous impact on both your physical and mental well-being. And since physical therapists also focus on treating their patients by improving their physical fitness with different types of exercise it can surely treat patients suffering from anxiety disorders. In other words, physical therapy can easily improve the mental health of a person suffering from anxiety.

Here is how physical therapy can help the people struggling with anxiety:

Improve Your Fitness

When you consult a physical therapist they will try to understand the actual cause of your problem. Your medical history is also evaluated by your physical therapist to understand your physical and mental well-being. Once they get to know your signs and symptoms they will try to heal them by improving your physical fitness. For example, if you are facing difficulty in falling asleep, they will include effective exercises and quality treatment techniques in your treatment plan that can make you feel good and relaxed. They can use massage therapy to improve your sleep.

Reduce Stress

A person that suffers from anxiety often feels stressed and physical therapy can offer tremendous help in reducing stress. Massage therapy is very helpful in reducing stress because it helps in decreasing the production of cortisol – a stress hormone. So, if you often feel tired and can’t concentrate on your work, consulting a physical therapist can bring a world of difference in your condition.

Elevate Mood

Your physical therapist teaches you different types of exercises that elevate your mood greatly. When your mood is not that good you can’t put your hundred percent into anything that you do. Whether you talk about accomplishing a routine task at home or focusing on your responsibilities at work, you can’t do anything properly. However, if you do the exercise suggested by your therapist on a regular basis you can easily reduce these problems.

Improve Self Confidence

People with anxiety often have low self-confidence which makes it really difficult for them to face any situation effectively. For example, if you have low self-confidence you find it really difficult to express your feelings at work, which creates a lot of problems for you. However, if you perform exercise regularly it helps in releasing hormones like endorphins and neurotransmitters which play a crucial role in making you happy and in stabilizing your mood.

Lowers Blood Pressure

Your blood pressure keeps on fluctuating when you feel too sad and unhappy. Both high blood pressure and low blood pressure are very dangerous for your overall health. But regular exercise and physical therapy can easily fix your blood pressure related issues.

Conclusion

Though physical therapy is mainly used for treating the patients suffering from conditions like back pain, neck ache, and shoulder injuries etc., that doesn’t mean people with mental conditions can’t be treated with it, too.

According to Fyzical Therapy, physical therapy techniques play a crucial role in reducing the signs and symptoms of anxiety. So, people who are facing concentration problems, sleep issues, disturbed eating patterns, poor self-confidence, and have lost interest in their regular activities can take physical therapy to improve their quality of life.

My wife was diagnosed of Parkinson’s Disease at age 49. She had severe calf pain, muscle pain, tremors, slurred speech, frequent falls, loss of balance, difficulty in getting up from sitting position. She was put on Senemet for 6 months and then Siferol was introduced and replaced the Senemet. During this time span she was also diagnosed with dementia. She started having hallucinations, lost touch with reality. This year, our family doctor started her on Natural Herbal Gardens Parkinson’s Disease Herbal mixture, With the help of Natural Herbal Garden natural herbs we have been able to reverse her symptoms using herbs, which i feel has made the most difference. 1 month into the herbal treatment she improved dramatically. At the end of the full treatment course, the disease is totally under control. No case of dementia, hallucination, weakness, muscle pain or tremors. She  turned 56 today. i am glad to get my wife back

It was interesting to read that a physical therapist will want to know the cause of your issue and will look through your medical history to understand your overall physical and mental well-being. This is good to know the thoroughness that takes place to ensure the best course of treatment. My brother-in-law was in a pretty serious car accident a little while ago. He hasn’t been able to run like he used to. Seeing an experienced professional who knows his background might his best option for getting back as close to 100% as possible.
