@sedax and @aliciass Thanks for dropping by!

@D I'm really glad you found the Anxiety Zone to be of help. I've participated some, but not as much as in PatientsLikeMe. For those who are interested, these two forums are great for communicating with other people, for getting help, and for helping others. Check out the badges at the lower end of the right sidebar.

Hi, Lindsay! Thanks for your comment and compliments. I've followed you on Twitter.

A friend loaned me the Cordain book a while back, and I read portions of it. I'm afraid I missed the mental health chapter. The reason I didn't read more of the book was that the diet he advocates is very much out of line with what I have to eat as a diabetic.

The question that I have (that I'm sure he addresses) concerns the life expectancy of hunter-gatherers. If they were so healthy back then, why was their life expectancy so short? Nevertheless, the book was interesting!

Hi Mike,

I saw your interview on Pro Writing Tips and thought I'd pop over to stay hi. Thanks for sharing your wisdom and experience in your blog.

Have you ever read Dr. Loren Cordain's Paleo Diet book? He's done a lot of research on the hunter-gatherer diet human beings evolved following and has found many connections with modern diseases and the adoption of agriculture and grain-heavy diets. I can't remember whether he address Anxiety Disorders specifically, but the book does have a chapter on mental illness, and apparently there are cases of people seeing their symptoms improve when they adopt the diet we evolved eating (lean meats, fish, veggies, fruit, seeds, nuts, etc. -- no dairy or grains or legumes).

Anyway, good luck, and keep the up the blog!

Lindsay’s last blog post..Using Keyword Research to Write Pinpoint Articles (How to Build Passive Income with Article Sites Pt 4)

D, thanks for your comment!

There are some good support sites on the web. Two that I recommend are the PatientsLikeMe mood community, and the AnxietyZone forums. I have badges for these on the rightmost sidebar. Just click on them. Both are forums with a good community where you can get help and be helpful. I personally have participated in the PatientsLikeMe community quite a bit.

Hi, Mike. I think there's a place for "moaning and groaning" online, though: An opportunity for people to share support and tips for what works. :) Thankfully, we have those sites and good informational ones like yours.

Thanks, Tracy! There's actually a lot more to the story that makes it even more calamitous! I had to cut a lot out to make it the proper length. In retrospect, it's one of the funniest things that has ever happened to me.

There's a large and growing number of elders blogging. Ronni Bennett, the creator of Time Goes By prefers the term "elders" over senior citizens, etc for a number of reasons, which I agree with. She is former assistant to Barbara Walters and the founding creator of CBS's website. Her site is the premier blog for all things that affect older people. More horn tooting: I will be doing a guest post the week of January 12th.

I just finished reading your leprechaun story, it's hilarious! You have a way with words "swiftly-slinking tip-toe". Too perfect!

I am not quite of that generation yet, but I always appreciate a good story. And I had no idea there was an "Elder Bloggers" movement (although of course I just now notice a button on your site!), that's excellent.
